How to identify your model of Yeticom Optima 

Note all models since the MkII have been sold in a box labeled MK2 to identify which model Yeticom Optima you have

please read the following hints and descriptions

MK1B

This is the model that every one calls the Mk1 ..well not quite true as we did have a model just before it the real Mk1 that was a concept rig and only a couple were made before production started in 2009 on what is now known as the first Yeticom Optima

note the number 4 button does not have the m_scan icon on it as this model was not fitted with memory scan

the narrow filter is located on the clarifier/function press feature

the Mk1b is labeled "Optima AM/FM/SSB CB TRANSCEIVER"

the vfo control is marked "CHANNEL"

the microphone plug/socket is a 6 pin mic

fan is recessed slightly into rear of rear heatsink

serial number starts S058###

MkII (Mk2)

the mk2 is labeled" Optima AM/FM/SSB CB TRANSCEIVER "

MkIIb (Mk2b)

the Mk2B is labeled " Optima AM/FM/SSB HF TRANSCEIVER "

the vfo control is marked "VFO" above the vfo control

the microphone plug/socket is a 8 pin mic a mic socket icon is added to the right of the mic socket

also note the triangular icons tot he right os the on/off/volume control and squelch/rf power controls

fan is recessed slightly into rear of rear heatsink

serial number starts S064###

this was a short lived model (less than 100 sold)

and was superseded by the mk3 in October 2012 all optima transceiver sold new since then are MK3 units

Mk3 current model sold new since October of 2012

the Mk3 is labelled" Optima 10-12m AM/FM/SSB HAM TRANSCEIVER "

the vfo control is marked "VFO" above the vfo control

the microphone plug/socket is a 8 pin mic a mic socket icon is added to the right of the mic socket

also note the triangular icons to the right of the on/off/volume control and squelch/rf power controls

serial number starts S068###

All mk3 units are shipped in a mk2 box ..till further notice

As of 01-01-2013 all Yeticom Optima's have been shipped with www.yeticomnz.com exclusive audio mods to lift the average transmitted audio 3dB

September 2015> MK3 production models serial numbers start with S076### other wise same radio as Mk3 and of course any MK3 sold by yeti communications ltd (nz) have the latest mods however it has come to our attention that some resellers overseas are claiming their optimas have these modifications this is completely untrue if in doubt contact www.yeticomnz.com with your MK3 serial number and time purchased and we will have a look at our records of units sold
